RULES/REGS
SCOTTISH RITE EDUCATIONAL ASSOCIATION RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REVISE OR CHANGE THESE RULES AS NEEDED. ACTIVITIES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS ARE POSTED ON THE BULLETIN BOARDS ON EACH HALL AND/OR THROUGH DORMITORY ESTABLISHED SOCIAL MEDIA SITES. ALL RESIDENTS WILL BE EXPECTED TO RESPECT THE RIGHTS OF THE OTHER RESIDENTS, THEIR RESPECTIVE GUESTS AND EMPLOYEES OF SREA. IMPROPER CONDUCT WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. IMPROPER CONDUCT INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO, VIOLATION OF PARAGRAPHS A, H, AND I OF THESE RULES AND REGULATIONS, AND BEHAVIOR, ACTIONS, OR MEDICAL DISORDERS, THAT, IN THE REASONABLE SOLE BELIEF OF SREA, ARE THREATENING TO RESIDENT, OTHER RESIDENTS, THEIR RESPECTIVE GUESTS, OR SREA EMPLOYEES. IN THE EVENT THAT IMPROPER CONDUCT ALLEGED BY SREA INVOLVES PARAGRAPH #1, OR BEHAVIOR, ACTIONS, OR MEDICAL DISORDERS THAT ARE THREATENING AS DEFINED HEREIN, SREA RESERVES THE RIGHT TO TERMINATE THIS CONTRACT AND REQUIRE RESIDENT TO VACATE THE DORMITORY IMMEDIATELY, OR TAKE SUCH OTHER ACTIONS AS SREA, IN ITS SOLE DISCRETION, MAY DEEM APPROPRIATE (SEE SCHEDULE OF FINES AND DISCIPLINARY ACTION BELOW). IF SREA TAKES SUCH OTHER ACTIONS PRIOR TO OR IN LIEU OR TERMINATION OF THIS CONTRACT, SUCH OTHER ACTIONS WILL NOT WAIVE SREA’S RIGHT TO TERMINATE THIS CONTRACT AND REQUIRE RESIDENT TO VACATE THE DORMITORY IMMEDIATELY. SREA MAY DISCLOSE IMPROPER CONDUCT TO PARENT AND ANY AUTHORITIES THAT SREA DETERMINES, IN ITS SOLE DISCRETION, ARE APPROPRIATE TO NOTIFY OF SUCH IMPROPER CONDUCT.

Alcohol, Drugs, and Firearms. No intoxicants of any kind or alcohol and drug paraphernalia of any kind, will be permitted on the Dormitory property. If found, they will be confiscated. SREA reserves the right to notify the police, and the Resident may be subject to immediate dismissal. No firearms are allowed on the Dormitory’s property.

Closing Hours. Unless posted otherwise, Closing Hours are daily from the time the front door of the Dormitory is locked at night (10:00 pm for the Long Term and 10:00 p.m. for the Summer Term) until unlocked the following morning. During Closing Hours, all Residents and Overnight Guests (as described in section E below) are admitted to the Dormitory by the Maintenance person who is on duty at the rear entrance. A valid, current photo student ID or current driver’s license must be shown to the Maintenance person and is required to gain admission to the Dormitory during Closing Hours.

Fitness Center. The Fitness Center is open to Residents only. The Resident waives any and all claims for herself against SREA and its employees, arising from or with respect to the use of the fitness facilities. This waiver also includes any injury or illness that may directly or indirectly result from any utilization of any of the fitness facilities. Fitness facilities include, but are not limited to, the weight room, pool, exterior grounds, etc. Resident further states that she is in proper physical condition to utilize the fitness facilities.

Food Service. For the Long Term, three meals are served daily except Friday and Saturday when only breakfast and lunch are served. For the Summer Term, three meals are served daily except Friday, Saturday and Sunday when only breakfast and lunch are served. Shoes are required at all times in the dining room. Check the menu board for meal times. Residents may bring guests to breakfast, lunch or dinner by purchasing a meal ticket. Non-paying guests are not allowed in the dining room. RESIDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TAKE DISHES OR OTHER ITEMS FROM THE DINING ROOM. Residents will be required to show Resident ID to enter the dining room. Cooking appliances in the individual rooms are prohibited.
Guests.

Day Guest: Residents may have female guests in the Dormitory during non-Closing Hours (“Day Guests”) during non-Closing Hours of the Dormitory. To the greatest extent reasonably possible, Residents should accompany their Day Guest in the Dormitory. Resident is responsible for Day Guest to vacate the Dormitory before the beginning of, and during Closing Hours. Day Guests must pay for meals at the Dormitory.

Overnight Guest: Residents may have a female guest in the Dormitory during Closing Hours (“Overnight Guest”) only described in this paragraph. Overnight Guests must complete the registration form found in reception office at least one (1) hour prior to Closing Hours. If the Overnight Guest is to be in the Resident’s room, Resident’s roommate must give prior written approval of Overnight Guest being in the room by signing registration form. A Resident is limited to a maximum of four (4) Overnight Guests per semester. No single Overnight Guest may stay more than two (2) consecutive nights. In addition, some weekends, as designated by the Dormitory, will require a fee paid by Overnight Guests when registering. To the greatest extent reasonably possible, Residents should accompany their Overnight Guests in the Dormitory. Overnight Guests must pay for meals at the Dormitory.

Male Guest: Except as otherwise provided in this paragraph, Residents may have a male guest (“Male Guest”) in the Dormitory only during non-Closing Hours of the Dormitory. Except during open house hours, Male Guests are limited to common areas located on the first floor of the Dormitory and the dining room. Open House for Male Guests is limited to Friday’s, Saturday’s and Sunday’s from noon until 10:00 p.m. During Open House hours Male Guests may be on Resident halls and rooms and must, at all times, be accompanied by Resident. Male Guests may not use bathroom facilities on Resident halls. At 10:00 p.m. Resident must escort Male Guest to first floor common areas. No later than the beginning of Closing Hours, Male Guest must vacate the Dormitory. Notwithstanding other provisions in this paragraph regarding Male Guest, a male parent may visit a Resident room after 10:00 a.m. and must be escorted by Resident at all times.

Internet Access/Computers. RESIDENT MUST HAVE VIRUS PROTECTION ACTIVATED, CURRENT VIRUS SIGNATURES INSTALLED AND CRITICAL OPERATING SYSTEMS UPDATES ON COMPUTERS. SREA is not responsible for maintaining personal computers. If Resident computer is infected and causes any network disruptions, it will be removed from the network until the problem is corrected. No personal wireless transmitters are allowed.

Hall Lounges. Hall Lounges are located on each Resident wing and priority use of the Hall Lounge is given to the Residents of the wing where the Hall Lounge is located. Hall Lounges are not to be used for sleeping.

Noise. Loud noise in the halls or in the rooms, including but not limited to, (running, screaming, loud stereos or TV) will not be allowed, especially between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. A piano is located in the living room. Hours for playing are from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily. Residents are asked to be respectful of their neighbors. Repeat offenders will be subject to disciplinary action as deemed appropriate by the Dormitory up to and including dismissal from the Dormitory.

PARKING: The right to park vehicles on the grounds associated with the Dormitory during the Term may be leased by Resident for a fee of $1,100.00 payable in advance. Parking spaces for residents of the Dormitory are limited in number, and Resident is not guaranteed the opportunity to lease parking space. Room Care/Repairs. Residents should keep room in good repair. Notify SREA’s on-site representative immediately if accidental damage occurs. Do not place furniture or beds in front of the A/C-Heater unit. Do not drive any nails or use double stick tape on the walls or doors. Leave a work order with the on-site representative at the Reception Office for wall hanging or other repair work needed. Any damages will be deducted from your deposit.

-No flame generating product or heat activated room scent products (including but not limited to; candles, incense or sentsy). No halogen lamps

-No loft/bunk beds. The Dormitory provided mattress, box springs and bed frames must remain in the room.

-Headboards must be free standing and may not be affixed to the wall.

Safety. Video surveillance is available at numerous locations throughout the property. SREA makes no guarantees of personal security on or about the property. While providing our staff an additional tool in monitoring the grounds, the surveillance videos are not continuously monitored. The Dormitory is not liable for equipment failures, power outages or videotape malfunction. Lock your door every time you leave your room. Report anything that is missing to the Registrar immediately. Expensive jewelry, heirlooms, antiques, or other items of great personal or financial value should not be brought to the Dormitory. Resident should secure her own insurance to protect against property damage or loss. SREA IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ITEMS LOST OR STOLEN. Learn the location of the emergency exits in case of a fire. Keep halls and exits clear of clutter at all times. Check to make sure that all irons, curlers, etc. are unplugged before leaving your room

Schedule of Fines and Disciplinary Action. 1stNotice of improper conduct, $25.00; 2ndNotice of improper conduct, $50.00 and Parents notified; 3rdNotice of improper conduct, Disciplinary Action at SREA’s discretion. REASONABLE CLEAN UP CHARGES will be in addition to the above stated fines and will be charged on a case by case basis for cleaning of carpet, bathroom, personal items, etc. Such clean up charges will not be less than $25.00.

Smoking. Smoking of any form (including but not limited to; cigarettes, e-cigarettes, advanced personal vaporizers, hookahs, etc.) and smoking paraphernalia is NOT allowed in the Dormitory.

Swimming Pool. The swimming pool area is open to Residents, their Day Guest and Overnight Guest from 7:30 a.m. until dark. SWIM AT YOUR OWN RISK – THERE IS NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY.
